Regulations and participative processes around inclusive recycling in the Andean zone Case study in Ecuador

Abstract:

Participation in the Andean area and the strong infiuence of social movements have generated the creation of regulatory laws concerning the environment as an institutionalized process. It is within this regulation that activities of social and ecological interest such as recycling, in which work was not done in an orderly manner, start to adopt inclusive ways of work with methodologies that include different participants as institutions, citizens, and organizations. As well as regulations have been generated, articles in the Constitution and items in the National Plan for Good Living (Plan del Buen Vivir), participatory processes have been developed which has led many cities to work on inclusive recycling; that is, where the people who recycle are recognized as society leaders. This will be the topic of this article: To identify the regulations and methodologies that within the recycling processes improved the participation of the people.
