Rehabilitation of upper limb with force feedback

Abstract:

In this paper an alternative rehabilitation of fine motor skills in upper extremity is proposed by using haptic force feedback devices. The proposed feedback system handles textures and movements in a 3D graphical environment specially designed to develop abilities and skills that improve the motor performance of the patient. The system is implemented through bilateral interaction of Unity3D software with the Novint Falcon device, the patient performs a path-based rehabilitation entertainment brought about by the displacement and force feedback paths which are based on physiotherapists exercises. Developed experimental results shows the efficiency of the system which generates the human interaction-machine, oriented to develop the human ability.
