Relación del estado nutricional materno con el peso del recién nacido, Hospital Regional Vicente Corral Moscoso, Cuenca 2014
Abstract:
Introduction: Several studies have demonstrated the association between maternal nutritional status and the weight of the newborn. The consequences of an increase of weight during pregnancy by deficiency or excess causes consequences in the welfare of the mother and newborn. Objective: To determine the relationship between maternal weight gain during pregnancy with the weight of the newborn for the different nutritional states maternal gestational pre according to the BMI. Method and materials: an observational analytical cross-sectional study was conducted, with 247 pregnant women who were admitted in labor to the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso "HVCM" during the year 2014. The interview and anthropometric data were taken at the time of the patient encounter and; the anthropometric data of the newborn were taken at the time of the reception and entered in the tab. Results: the 49.4 % of maternal had between the ages 20-24 years. According to the nutritional status at the beginning of the pregnancy the 2.4 % are underweight, normal weight 53.8 per cent, 36.8 % were overweight, and 6.9 % were obese. A statistically significant difference was observed between the average weight gain and weight of the newborn infant, p=0.018. Similarly found low correlation coefficients for the BMI at the beginning of pregnancy r= 0.034, p=0.003 and with the total weight of the mother at the end of the pregnancy r=0.309, p=0.000. It was also observed a statistically significant association between weight gain of the mother and the weight of the newborn Chi2 =13.508, p=0.036. Conclusions: we demonstrated that there is an association between weight gains of the mother with the weight of the newborn. The proportion of mothers who earn underweight and excess weight is high
