Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to develop a prevention management system against occupational accidents with sharp-edged objects that take place at Children's Hospital "Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde". This retrospective and descriptive study was performed with analyses of the occupational accidents occurred to the Children's Hospital Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde's workers, during the year 2011. Then, we characterize them to determine the circumstances and incidents of the sharp-edged objects, the occupational group exposed, and the places where the accidents occurred. After that, we performed a cause/effect analysis of the occupational accident likelihood, for which, the current legislation on Safety and Health at Work was applied. In conclusion, we found evidence indicating that the causes of accidents with sharp-edged objects were the employees' behavior and the lack of management. For this reason, we present a proposal for managing the prevention of accidents involving sharp-edged objects for this health care facility (Hosp. Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde).
