Relationship between income inequality, economic growth, education and poverty: An explanation through Kuznets for Chile

Abstract:

This document investigates the development process of the Chilean economy by analyzing the relationship between income inequality, per capita income, poverty and education, using time series data for the period 1984-2013. The objective was to verify the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between the variables analyzed, to then consistently test the Kuznets hypothesis, identify the role of poverty throughout the development process and determine whether education served as an equalizing mechanism of income.
