Reliable monitoring of dangerous good transportation through enforcement systems

Abstract:

Nowadays, electronics, microelectronics and sensors are incorporated everywhere in intelligent systems. New designed vehicles are one of the best examples of this technologies' integration. Today, it is possible for a car to find streets, to evaluate distances or to communicate with mobile user devices in an intelligent way. One future challenge of this integration is to foresee and to avoid dangerous events through electronic systems integrated in smart vehicles. This is the aim of the European project Good Route which has developed a cooperative system for dangerous goods vehicles routing monitoring, re-routing, enforcement and driver support, based upon dynamic and real time data. This paper presents the implemented protocol that describes the communication process between the vehicle and the infrastructure within the enforcement Good Route system.
