Reportable diseases of invertebrates

Abstract:

There are currently 27 reportable diseases of invertebrates as mandated by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). There are 22 reportable invertebrate diseases listed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Veterinarians and other animal science professionals dealing with invertebrate animal health and husbandry should have an understanding of this important topic and the mechanisms and protocols involved when a suspected reportable disease is encountered. Both the OIE and USDA websites, as well as hard copy publications, provide details on the identification and reporting process. This chapter presents a list that are current as of January 2021.
