Respuestas emocionales ante un diagnóstico de cáncer en adolescentes entre los 14 y 18 años del grupo Adolescentes Oncológicos Guerreros Contra el Cáncer de la ciudad de Portoviejo


Abstract:

The following research has a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope and a narrative design which looks to identify the emotional responses that emerge from a cancer diagnosis in teenagers between ages of 14 and 18, using a semi structured interview and content analysis to identify key points. Six teenagers with an oncology diagnosis were interviewed in order to distinguish the emotional responses that spurred up at the moment that they were given the news and how this news affected their lives. Information of their responses was collected and analyzed recalling the specific moment the news was shared to the participant, and important aspects of the people present such as the doctor is attitude and the support of friends and family. In conclusion, the information collected is expected to help other teenagers who may be struggling in the same manner be able to better cope and comprehend the cancer diagnosis that is being informed to them, as this is life changing news.
