Resultados del programa integral de estimulación de la inteligencia en el mejoramiento de la comprensión verbal en las escuelas de la ciudad de Cuenca. 2017
Abstract:
BACKGROUND: This work is based on the MRE project, which was carried out in students from the city of Cuenca, whose objective was to establish the variables that influence academic performance, with intelligence being the most related, and the need to carry out interventions that stimulate the development of the same, in this case the PIENSO program was applied, the results were evaluated through the WISC IV intelligence test. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Describe the results of the Comprehensive Intelligence Stimulation Program in improving the verbal comprehension of fourth-year students of basic education in the city of Cuenca. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive, longitudinal retrospective study. Data regarding the variable verbal comprehension of forms obtained in the previous MRE investigation were taken. The previous project had 367 students to whom the WISC IV intelligence scale was applied, to obtain verbal comprehension scores both at the beginning and at the end of the study. A division was made into two groups: 205 children of whom the PIENSO program was applied, and 163 others not. The data was analyzed with SPSS version 19.0, applying the T-Student test RESULTS: The average age was 8.78 ± 0.59 years, with the group of 9 to 10 years predominating (70.7%). The predominant sex was female (51.4%). The average scores in the reports of both study groups increased significantly after the course, although it was more marked in those of the group intervened. CONCLUSIONS: The Comprehensive Intelligence Stimulation Program (PIENSO) has a positive result in the improvement of the verbal comprehension of the fourth year students of basic education in the city of Cuenca.
