Risk components for community acquired pneumonia in elderly patients at the “alfredo noboa montenegro” hospital

Abstract:

Community-acquired pneumonia constitutes in the 21st century the most frequent cause of death of infectious etiology in developed countries, contributing to high incidence and morbimortality, a situation worsened by the emergence of multi-resistant germs from the community; it is a disease that not only poses a diagnostic problem, but also with regard to its therapeutic management, the morbimortality it generates makes it a health problem. It is a descriptive, observational, transversal and retrospective study where the clinical histories of 48 patients assisted in the Alfredo Noboa Montenegro Hospital during the period January-April 2017 were reviewed, in which epidemiological characteristics were analyzed such as: age ranges of presentation of the pathology, types of treatments used, pbkp_redisposing risk factors, comorbidities; the mentioned data were obtained from the clinical histories from their admission and the subsequent follow-up during the period of hospitalization to measure the behavior of the variables to be studied. We hope to obtain results that guide us to the reality of our city and indirectly of our country, to later generate and apply preventive measures in the population, which tend to diminish the incidence of this pathology.
