Risk factors for preeclampsia in pregnant women: Analysis for nursing intervention
Abstract:
Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system. In Ecuador it has become one of the main reasons for maternal and fetal death. Objective: To determine the risk factors for preeclampsia in pregnant women from communities attended at the Hospital General Puyo. Methodology: The study modality was quantitative, descriptive level with non-experimental design, with a cross-sectional diagnosis and with elements of an action research, the sample consisted of 150 pregnant women, the technique used for data collection was direct observation, review of medical records and survey applied during the period from January 2021 to April 2021. Results: the most predominant results were that 33% of women in the age of 19 to 22 years have preeclampsia, 40% of women have no academic instruction, 87% of women are totally unaware of preeclampsia, 33% of pregnant women have had a pregnancy control, 53% presented symptoms of preeclampsia during the second trimester of gestation, 41% have stated not having any chronic disease. Conclusions: According to the results, it was evident that the main factor influencing the risk of preeclampsia was the lack of knowledge on the part of the pregnant women due to their low level of education.
