Risk factors originated by pneumonia associated with invasive mechanical ventilation in intensive care patients hospital del-fina torres de concha, 2020
Abstract:
The present research work was carried out at the Delfina Torres de Concha Hospital in the city of Esmeraldas, in the intensive care area and its objective is to determine the risk factors that cause pneumonia associated with invasive mechanical ventilation, to reduce complications through good clinical care practices. A qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional cohort study was carried out. The study population was 20 nursing professionals, who were surveyed on the level of knowledge of the risk factors that cause ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). In addition, data from 10 medical records of patients who were discharged from the service with a diagnosis of pneumonia associated with invasive mechanical ventilation were taken into account. Within the results, 80% of the study population considered that the main cause of pneumonia associated with invasive mechanical ventilation is en-dotracheal intubation. 100% stated that reintubation and prolonged intubation are risk factors for VAP. 90% consider that there are factors that can be modified to reduce the incidence of pneumonia associated with invasive mechanical ventilation.
