Role of self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) monitoring and home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) in the therapeutic control of hypertensive patients

Abstract:

Introduction: high blood pressure (HBP) is one of the main risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), responsible for many morbidities in the world. The diagnosis and treatment of blood pressure (BP) is a critical issue, which is why, in recent years, new methods of BP measurement have been incorporated, such as ambulatory monitoring (ABPM) and home BP measurements (AMPA), which have a higher prognostic value than clinical office measures. Objective: to per-form an analysis and measure the therapeutic rate of HN control by comparing self-measurement of blood pressure (SMBP) and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in patients diagnosed with arterial hypertension. Methodology: the design is descriptive theoretical review type with a bibliographical documentary approach covering national and international literature. Conclu-sions: the use of these tools on a routine basis consti-tutes a challenge and main help for the doctor both for clinical evaluation and monitoring of the disease.
