Rosaceae in the high Andes of Ecuador
Abstract:
Of the 72 species of Ecuadorean Rosaceae 53 (74%) occur at elevations between 3000-4000 m. In general, the widespread species have broader altitudinal ranges. Areas of high diversity and endemism vary depending on the genera. Most species of Polylepis are found in the C Andes. Most species of Rubus are found in the southern regions. Eucador and Peru share 87% of the genera and 75% of the species of Rosaceae. The temperature component of Ecuadorean Rosaceae is 49% and of Peruvian Rosaceae, 55%. The tropical component in Ecuador is 50%, and in Peru, 44%. -from Author
