SALARIO MÍNIMO, POBREZA Y CLASE MEDIA. EL CASO ECUATORIANO

Abstract:

Called to reduce inequality and promote social cohesion, the middle class faces the challenge of continuing to grow and combat its feared condition of provisional status. With the aim of feeding public policy, we explore the impact of the increase in the minimum wage on the middle class in Ecuador. The research hypothesis is that increases in the minimum wage would increase the income of the intermediate deciles. The results show that the variations in the minimum wage are especially related to the lower-intermediate deciles.
