SEGIC: An electronic system to improve quality in Ecuadorian universities

Abstract:

The government of Ecuador has established parameters to achieve quality in their university studies, and these parameters are established by criteria that are demonstrated through a series of evidence. The collection of many pieces of evidence has become a fundamental task for the universities. However, at the Ambato Technical University, the process of collecting and evaluating evidence has been uneven. To improve the collection and evaluation of evidence, a new process has been established and has been computerized through a BMPS, in this case Bonita BPM. This BPM ensures not only the correct collection of the evidence, but also its quality, besides assigning responsibilities for each step of the process as well as times for the tasks. After being used for two semesters, the result of the system has been a much more efficient, quicker, and higher quality collection of the documents.
