SOCIAL INVESTMENT AND THE INDEX OF SEN IN ECUADOR
Abstract:
Poverty is a problem insofar as low incomes create complications for those who are not poor and this can be a real tragedy. From this arises the concern on the part of the current governments to manage a healthy, equitable and visionary social investment that diminishes poverty and equates living standards. The objective of the present work is to determine the incidence of Social Investment (Education, Health, Labor, Housing and Social Welfare) on poverty, using as an indicator the Sen Index in Ecuador over a period of 10 years, through a model linear econometric with Ordinary Least Squares. When establishing the incidence of the sectoral social investment (Education, Health, Social Welfare, Urban Development and Housing, Labor) in the Sen Index, complying with an optimal model most of the sectors with the exception of Social Welfare, have incidence in the Sen Index of Ecuador.
