Saberes ancestrales aplicados a niños menores de 5 años con enfermedades diarreicas agudas, el Valle 2017


Abstract:

Background: The traditional medicine is applied for centuries in our country and has been passed down from generation to generation in rural communities, indigenous and mestizo (1). There are 187 traditional agents in the Azuay, which have different types, methods and techniques of ancestral healing for acute diarrheal diseases, being the second largest cause of death in children under 5 years, either by malnutrition or by Lack of sanitation and hygiene services. (2) Objective: To describe ancestral knowledge applied to children under 5 years with diarrhea in El Valle, Cuenca 2017. Materials and methods: This is a qualitative study that aims to determine the methods and techniques applied in the parish of El Valle, Canton Cuenca, by analyzing depth interviews with men and women of wisdom recognized by the Ministry of Public Health, Whose universe was 8 people, the data obtained were processed and analyzed in ATLAS TI. Results: shungo, tail, eye and infection are the main diagnostic disease by people of wisdom, diagnostic observe consistency, color and smell of diarrhea accompanied by other symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, changes in Skin color and decay; They use different methods, techniques and instruments of healing like: massages, agüitas; The most commonly used medicinal plants are: chamomile, choclo hair, granadilla leaf, etc. Conclusions: It was found that the ancestral knowledge applied to children under 5 with acute diarrheal diseases, are part of the same cultural heritage with a view to recover and strengthen health
