With a qualitative study, the technique of content analysis was applied to the information collected from the websites of Claep, UNESCO, Observacom and what is appreciated in the Latin American rankings of Scimago Higher Education, QS University Rankings; and, Times Higher Education University. There was coherence between the training provided by universities and the laws that regulate communication in line with the accredited programs that educate for democratic journalism. It is concluded that there is correspondence between the objectives of Claep, its values and the responsibilities of institutions that position higher education as a public good.
