Seismic hazard and countermeasures in Guayaquil

Abstract:

The City of Guayaquil, Ecuador, has been selected as a Full Case Study for the RADIUS Program sponsored by the IDNDR of the United Nations. The Research and Development Institute of the School of Engineering of Universidad Catolica de Santiago de Guayaquil (IIFIUC) and the Municipality of the City of Guayaquil, with the technical support of GeoHazards International are currently working together in the implementation of such Program. This paper contains the research work carried out by IIFIUC in the past few years, which are the base for the development of the Program and the current activities that are taking place at this moment.
