Selection of the artificial lifting system in the Joma Oil Field-Ecuadorian Oriente District

Abstract:

When a well reaches a certain productive life time the natural energy of the reservoir is not enough to lift the fluids from the bottom of the well to the surface, it is at this moment that the need arises to apply artificial methods that allow achieving said objective. The right selection of these mechanisms called Artificial Lifting Systems allows the production of hydrocarbons to be carried out in an optimal, efficient manner and especially, that their application is economically attractive. The objective of this study is to analyze the quantifiable criteria under which the different wells of the Ecuadorian Oriente district operate, such as productivity, rise depth, production rate, and temperature, among others and based on the operating ranges of each lift system., develop a tool that allows selecting the system that best suits these conditions, for this, a random sample of sixty wells belonging to the Joma Oil Field was taken, information that was classified by producing sand, in such a way that the values of the previously established criteria of each arena can be compared with the operating ranges of the analyzed systems and can establish which lift system is the one indicated for wells that produce said sands. By using the tool it was possible to determine that the adequate lift system for the Basal Tena and "T" sands is the jet-type hydraulic pump and for the Hollín Lower and Upper, "U" Lower and Upper sands, the systems that best adapts to the characteristics of these sands is the electro submersible pumping.
