Short-term hydrothermal economic dispatch applied on hydraulic coupled power plants using dynamic programming
Abstract:
Economic Dispatch of generation takes on a fundamental role around the optimal operation of electrical power systems, since its field of study focuses on implementing mechanisms to minimize electricity generation costs, without neglecting compliance with load requirements. In this context, this document addresses the use of dynamic programming method as a strategy to solve the problem of hydrothermal economic dispatch. The algorithms developed for this purpose allow defining the dispatch of generation systems that combine the participation of thermoelectric and hydroelectric power plants, with the possibility of obtaining dispatch in systems that include hydroelectric plants with hydraulic coupling. The results obtained through the implemented algorithms allow to obtain adequate responses, as the solutions reflect limited values within the specified technical and operational constraints, ensuring a correct supply of demand for the entire proposed optimization horizon. In addition, the dynamic programming method, due to its computational advantages, has allowed to find correctly delimited results in an agile way.
