Signature and presence of the gatekeeper in ecuadorian journalism. Case study: El comercio

Abstract:

The informative quality can be-and must be-measured according to the signature of the journalists, which symbolizes a competitive and accbkp_redited work atmosphere. With this research, it is intended to unveil, with analysis and reflection and with the support of great thinkers, the presence of the gatekeeper in journalism, specifically in the newspaper El Comercio. From a qualitative-quantitative approach, an analytical file was constructed to examine daily, during the second semester of 2017, that journalistic company with a trajectory of more than a century in the Ecuadorian news context. For the most part, the authorship of the texts is designated to the media. Among other issues, the commitment to consider that the dissemination of effective information is a shared responsibility was perceived.
