Smart Control and Monitoring System of a Robotic Station Operating with Motion Control and Artificial Vision
Abstract:
Today’s technologies allow industrial operations to be more efficient with the aim of achieve higher productivity and safety during hazardous situations. Due to the complexity and precision required in these operations, the operators have been replaced by artificial intelligence. Thus, the purpose of this project is to design and start up a didactic palletizer cartesian robot. In this design, programing, and architecture platforms such as LabVIEW, Motion Control, s-7-1200 PLC, HMI interface, artificial vision and a robotic arm were integrated. The system begins with the distinguishing of boxes by color, which activates the cartesian robot to position them on the conveyor belt. Subsequently, these are directed to the palletizing area, the band is activated through a signal sent by the PLC through a Profinet connection. The palletizing process can be remotely controlled, and artificial vision is incorporated for the box classification. LabVIEW and TIA PORTAL software data processing are linked via an OPC connection. The robot operated via wireless was successfully used by properly executing the programmed sequence in such manner preventing any collisions. To check the functionality of the kinematic chains of the industrial robots, the simulation was carried out in the aunt portal software (siemens) using the technological tools offered by the advanced version PLC range. After performing several tests with the complete system, the correct operation of the components was verified, indicating that they were performed in real time and with great effectiveness, offering a flexible, robust and low cost platform.
