Abstract:
The study deals with the intervention of the Theory of Social Capital in the field of Tourism, specifically the Tourist Cruise sector, in particular on the “Sea of Cortes Route”, which includes the ports of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Ensenada, Baja California and Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur and Mazatlán, Sinaloa, destinations that make up the arrival point for cruises from the United States to the Mexican Pacific. The field and delimitation of the study includes the arrival points of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, due to demonstrate how the local actors of the public sector (local officials)) and private (businessmen and tourist cruises) were organized, and how they created trust and participated of the total cancellation that occurred in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, remaining outside the aforementioned route that these destinations make up, during the period 2010-2014. It should be noted that in the port of Sinaloa, tourist cruises were withdrawn under the argument of insecurity and due to the little participation of officials from the public sector, during the same period of time covered by this research. For this reason, it is important to precise that the article has the purpose of providing a theoretical reflection on Social Capital and the form of intervention in the dilemma with cruise ship tourism. Regarding to the research method, it is qualitative through hermeneutics and the interview with the officials and actors involved. It is worth mentioning that the research stage of this topic does not yet have the final result at the time of the writing of this article.
