Social media use among asthmatics patients older than 12 years old in Latinamerica
Abstract:
Introduction: Inadequate communication could affect adherence in asthma. Social Media (SoMe) has increased exponentially. No app offers a built-in mechanism for communication between doctor-patient, limiting the scope for self-management. Aim: We conducted a research to determine the preference of SoMe use among asthma patients in Latinamerica. Methods: Observational, cross sectional, multi centric study. Michigan questionnaire, back-translated in Spanish was used. Participants had asthma diagnosis. X2 was employed for differences between age groups and recent asthma diagnosis (≤5 years). Logistic regression analyses were adjusted for age, gender, and recent asthma diagnosis. P<0.05 was statistically significant.
