Solar Lamp Post Health Monitoring Using Integrated Sensors and Wireless Network

Abstract:

Wireless monitoring via the communication network and sensors plays a vital role in remote applications. Solar lamp posts deployed in streets and highways are neglected most of the time. This constitutes a huge waste of government budget. The development of a health monitoring system for a solar lamp post will help data recording without personnel presence. The results show that the end-user can view the health status of the post including battery, solar panel, and LED lamp, anywhere as long as it is connected to the cloud. The modem sleep mode in the microcontroller decreases the power consumption of the system while transmitting the data via wi-fi or Wimax technology.
