Solitons in the nonlinear Schrödinger model and the collective ground state of a one-dimensional delta-function gas
Abstract:
We examine a one-dimensional Bose gas interacting with a delta-function potential using the large-N collective field theory. We show that in the case of an attractive potential the uniform ground state is unstable to small perturbations and the instability is cured by the formation of a collective ground state, the "bright soliton" configuration in the corresponding nonlinear Schrödinger field theory. © 1994.
