Spectral features of myoelectric signal: Approach on temperature variation

Abstract:

This work describes the advances in the investigation of the analysis of the temperature effect in the superficial myoelectric signals, developed by the authors. Two sEMG signal acquisition systems have been developed, one portable and the other fixed in the laboratory. The temperature stimulation and data capture can be done with Raspberry Pi or in MATLAB Simulink respectively. In previous studies, the change in magnitude of the myoelectric signal was analyzed in the time domain. Now the analysis in the frequency domain is presented, where the main spectral characteristics, Mean Frequency (MnF) and Median Frequency (MdF), also show variations. The data was acquired using the fixed system in a laboratory. Finally, these two parameters are contrasted, concluding that MdF is a better parameter to consider for future work and to implement it in the portable equipment.
