Spin-glass behavior in Zn<inf>1-x</inf>Mn<inf>x</inf>In<inf>2</inf>Te<inf>4</inf>

Abstract:

The magnetic behavior of solid solution Zn1-xMnxIn2Te4 with 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 1.0 has been investigated in the temperature range between 1.8 and 300 K by means of AC susceptibility and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). For x ≤ 0.5 the system shows no magnetic ordering down to the lowest temperature measured. Samples with x > 0.6 display a cusp in the zero-field-cooled susceptibility data at a temperature 2.7 < Tf < 3.8 K, depending on Mn contents. EPR data showed a shift of the resonance field HR, together with line broadening with decreasing temperature were observed. The magnetic properties of this system are similar to those of the insulating spin glass with pure antiferromagnetic interactions. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
