Stakeholder identification in requirements engineering: Comparison of methods
Abstract:
The success of any software project depends on the way that requirements definition is performed and the quality obtained. The term stakeholder is applied to those people who play an important role in the requirements elicitation and their identification must be performed efficiently because a great number of failures in information systems can be due to an inadequate approach to this process. However, the stakeholder identification has hardly ever been dealt with in a profound way in Requirements Engineering because it is considered a trivial task that is solved in the first contact with the client. The present paper proposes some criteria to evaluate six current stakeholder identification methods and shows the results obtained. The objective is to achieve a complete understanding of this process.
