Statistical study on the efficacy of an educational alternative to attenuate the manifestations of burnout in university teachers


Abstract:

One of the most polemical psychological contents which provoke more disputes among the university professors is the burnout syndrome. Their prevention and treatment are necessary to maintain a labor state with the necessary performance, specifically in the current times of pandemic in the professors that have followed their functions at home. A treatment was designed with the help of psychological therapy and we wanted to determine its effectiveness. For this, we randomly selected professors at the Autonomous Regional University of Los Andes in Ecuador and we formed two groups, one of control and the other one as experimental. We compared the results of a survey for both groups with the employment of the test U of Mann-Whitney and for the effect size we used the coefficient g of Hedges. The results are endorsed in the realization of a quasi-experiment, where it was evidenced that there is a significant difference in the experimental group and a medium effect in its effectiveness.
