Stochastic aspects in dynamics of curved electromechanic metastructures
Abstract:
In this work we perform uncertainty quantification in the dynamic response of curved electromechanic metastructures made up of piezoelectrics in Bimorph configuration. The study is performed through a new reduced 1D finite element model derived from the theory of linear elasticity and general piezoelectricity, obtained through the Hamilton’s Principle and Gauss’s Law, who serves as a mean deterministic reference. Parametric uncertainty is taken into account through different constructive and constitutive parameters. Probabilistic model is constructed with the basis of the deterministic model and both are calculated within finite element approaches. Monte Carlo Method is employed to calculate random realizations. A number of scenarios are evaluated in order to identify the parameter sensitivity. Also the reduced model is contrasted with different models for validation.
