Structural engineering physical modeling for buildings

Abstract:

Structural engineering represents a fundamental component for building projects, where structural physical modeling is part of the research, experimentation and optimization of the building. The use of models allows formulating and evaluating project alternatives as for constructed buildings, without dealing with the prototype infrastructure and with minimum costs. The experiential development of the model contributes to the scientific-academic knowledge and strengthens with low investments the development of laboratories for structures. The experimentation and research of structural systems is little developed due to the investments and infrastructure required, having to use the same prototype for the analysis and limiting the selection of the project based on alternatives, which determines a conflict involving materials, human and technological resources that affect cognitive processes, costs, profitability and sustainability.
