Study of a group of women put under assisted human reproduction methods: a qualitative research approach.
Abstract:
The main purpose of this research was to define the way in which psychic representations of the desire of maternity determined the decision of a group of women to be put under complicated reproductive treatments such as in vitro fertilization. Patients previously diagnosed with primary sterility, who wanted to try assisted human reproduction (AHR) treatments, specifically those candidates for in vitro fertilization techniques (IVF), were remitted to a public health institution. Interviews were made to a hundred candidates, ten of which were selected to be amply studied. The methodology employed was interpretative in a grounded theory design. This instrument helped to build categories that deepened and broaded the phenomenon under study.
