Study of correlations between genetic values production-reproduction and type in Jersey breed sires in Ecuador
Abstract:
In Chimborazo's province study of correlations between genetic values Production-, type, and Reproduction of Jersey sires were analysed, using the database of bulls available in the US, marketed in Ecuador; 25 bulls were selected; the data were processed by descriptive statistics, and linear correlation analysis was performed by the Pearson method using SPSS Statistic version 19. In the correlation between productive and reproductive parameters, this indicated that 65% of the characteristics are not correlated, so, they are independent. That progress directly (correlated) are: daughters’ pregnancy rate (DPR) with productive life (PL) and habitability (LIV). In addition the daughter’s conception rate (HCR) was correlated with pbkp_redicted ability to transmit protein (PTAP) and cow’s conception rate (CRC) with LIV. In reference to the correlations between productive and type parameters, it was observed that 88% of the characteristics were independent. Dairy temperament (DF) was correlated with PTAP and pbkp_redicted ability of fat transmission (PTAF). For the correlation between reproductive and type parameters, 72% of the characteristics are independent. PTAT was directly correlated with cup of conception of the bull (SCR) same as index udder Jersey (JUI) with SCR. For this reason, the producers should select the studs looking for the characteristics that are are correlated, because this influence the development of livestock.
