Study of the anaerobic threshold in cyclists, category 14-15 years
Abstract:
Introduction: Like many other sports, cycling has undergone great changes in its preparation; consequently, it places before the athletes, coaches, organizers, doctors and other specialists even more complex new tasks. Adequate knowledge of energy metabolism is the fundamental basis for understanding the transport or use of basic energy sources. Objective: To determine the threshold of anaerobic metabolism in cyclists of route modality in the category 14-15 years, female sex. Methods: The Conconi test was applied to evaluate the threshold of anaerobic metabolism, studying the population of female cyclists with the highest performance (four cyclists, 14-15 years old), belonging to the Escuela Integral Deportiva (EIDE) "Lino Salabarría Pupo "In the province of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. Results: It was demonstrated that the cyclists of the category 14-15 years did not show satisfactory levels in the anaerobic power (Athlete 1: 191pm: 33Km/h, Athlete 2: 157pm: 34Km/h, Athlete 3: 184pm: 40Km/h and Athlete 4: 180pm: 33Km/h), the point of deflection being still separated with respect to its maximum heart rate and the time worked, which is why they are unable to complete the tactical plan designed by their coaches. Conclusions: It was shown that the athletes and coaches of the sports team studied are unaware of the possibilities of the anaerobic threshold, an aspect that makes it impossible to work strategically during long-term races.
