Study of the attitudes of teachers towards disability in an ecuadorian university


Abstract:

The positive attitude towards the disability represents a factor that works in favor of the inclusion of the handicapped students in the universities, so to deepen in his study leads to identify the essence of the problems present in the educational reality. In this particular the attitudes of the teachers are determinant in the quality of care of this group characterized by its vulnerability. The purpose of this research is to determine the attitudes that teachers have toward students with disabilities in the Dentistry career at the Autonomous Regional University of the Andes for which a descriptive, quantitative and transversal study was carried out, which counted on the participation of 51 teachers, who were applied the Scale Issues about University and Disability (CUNIDIS) in order to identify attitudes around disability and their determinants for educational inclusion. Although teachers ' awareness of disability is generally appreciated, the main results are deficiencies in their training related to the subject; The need to improve accessibility and to implement justified curricular changes, all with a view to enhancing the inclusion and raising the quality of the educational teaching process.
