Study of the federated identity and its application in Ecuador

Abstract:

Internet hosts most of the services that people and companies access. Minimizing privacy problems is one of the most important topics in the current technological environment and the perception that the information is accessible to unauthorized third parties negatively affects the user, so there is still much distrust in Ecuadorian society regarding the transactions on the web. Identity management is fundamental in organizations and is a costly task that requires time and qualified personnel for its implementation. Telecommunications infrastructures seek to be more distributed and secure, but they become more complex. With the arrival of new technologies such as cloud computing, new requirements and security problems appear. This study reviews the characteristics to improve the confidentiality of user data, presents the concepts on which the federative identity is based, the existing architectures and proposes the use of this technology in the country and future perspectives. The conclusions of this document describe the implications of this technology in Ecuador.
