Substructure synthesis method for buckling analysis in frames
Abstract:
Extension of Raleigh-Ritz-Meirovitch substructure synthesis to stability analysis in frames was explored. A computational procedure capable of yielding very accurate critical loads through solution of very-low order eigenvalue problems was analyzed. The extension of the RRMSSM to buckling analysis in frames was considered, and the main concern was to analyze the computational efficiency of the method as regarding to attainment of the first critical load. The eigenvalue problem of a general structure can be derived by energetic dynamics, and the disjoint structure was fully coupled by enforcing the compatibility conditions not satisfied by the kinematical procedure. Numerical examples demonstrated that the computational characteristics of the method were superior to those of the conventional finite element method (FEM).
