Supervisory control system for DFIG wind turbine with energy storage system based on battery
Abstract:
Energy storage is key to expanding the use of wind power, since it allows the wind turbines to smooth the power fluctuations caused by the intermittent and largely unpredictable nature of wind power. This paper presents the modeling and control of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbine with a lead-acid battery as energy storage system. A supervisory control system is developed for a suitable energy management of the energy sources. The modeling and control of this hybrid generation system is evaluated by simulation under different operating conditions. © 2011 IEEE.
