Surgical results of major and minor laparoscopic hepatectomies
Abstract:
Background: Laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) is a procedure that has shown great development and safety even in major liver resections. The objective is to compare indications and perioperative outcomes between major and minor laparoscopic resections in a single center. Methods: Non-concurrent cohort study of patients with LLR at the Hospital Clinico of Universidad Catolica from August 2004 to May 2017. The data were obtained from a database specially designed for hepatobiliary surgery. Major hepatectomies were defined as those with resection of 3 or more segments. Biodemographic, clinical and morbimortality data were analyzed. Results: Sixty-four patients were analyzed. Group 1 (G1)= 27 cases (42.1%), corresponding to major hepatectomies and Group 2 (G2)= 37 (57.9%) of minor hepatectomies.
