Synthesis, Structure, and Reactivity of the Iridium Hydrazido-Bridged Complex Cp*Ir(μ-C<inf>6</inf>H<inf>4</inf>N-NC<inf>6</inf>H<inf>4</inf>)IrCp*

Abstract:

The hydrazido-bridged iridium complex (1; Cp* = C5Me5) reacts with H2under pressure with oxidation of the N—N bond to give (3) in its cis and trans forms. In the absence of hydrogen, 3 is converted back to 1 with reduction of the N=N bond. Complex 3 reacts with CCl3Br to give only the cis isomer of (4). Complex 4 is also prepared by reaction of 1 with HBr or Br2. © 1995, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
