Systemic and integrated approach to flexible manufacturing systems design

Abstract:

An integrated, systemic, global, and user-centered methodology is presented for the analysis and evaluation of flexible manufacturing system (FMS) design alternatives. This methodology is a seven-step procedure. The application of this methodology implies that manufacturers will be willing to accept an integrated, systemic, interdisciplinary, and a user-centered FMS design approach in replacement to a very financial, operational, and myopic traditional approach.
