Systemic model for the technological adoption: Case tools case

Abstract:

The function of adopting technologies, such as CASE-Computer Aided Software Engineering- tools is, in most cases, one of the several functions of the technical areas that manage technologies in an enterprise. Specially, getting technical indicators-based models for selecting CASE tools, is a common result in literature, disregarding the fact that CASE adoption depends directly on the conditions of the environment where it will be used. Based on these premises, the main objective of this research was to present a systemic model for technological adoption of CASE Tools, which integrates the ideas of most relevant models with technological and organizational indicators for selecting CASE tools. Moreover, an evaluation of the model is presented, using a real case study. For this purpose, the Feature Analysis -Case Study evaluation method guidelines were followed, as suggested by the DESMET method for assessing methods and tools in software engineering.
