Szargut’s updated reference environment and the exergoecology portal

Abstract:

This paper is a tribute to the figure of prof. Jan Tadeusz Szargut, who passed away at the age of 94 on November 2017. It shows the work performed on improving the well known Szargut’s Reference Environment together between the Polish school with prof. Szargut and his most faithful collaborator prof. Stanek, and the Zaragoza school with prof. Valero and his daughter Dr. Valero. This collaboration, which started in 2004 gave birth to the first and only portal entirely devoted to exergy and its application to assess natural resource degradation: The Exergoecology Portal. Its main features are also shown in this paper.
