Síndrome de Burnout en docentes de escuelas fiscales unidocentes, bidocentes y pluridocentes del cantón Sigsig

Abstract:

It is known that occupational stress and Burnout syndrome have negative impacts that affect health and work performance, and that despite this they have been poorly studied. The purpose of this paper is to show the presence of Burnout syndrome in teachers who belong to basic general education schools of uni-teacher, bi-teacher and pluri-teacher typology concentrated in the Sigsig canton, the study population reaches about 68 teachers regardless of their gender and age, to the data collection used the Maslach Burnout Inventory MBI questionnaire. In the present work, in order to demonstrate the presence of Burnout syndrome, in a population of 68 teachers from unitary and multicultural schools belonging to the Sigsig canton, the Maslach Burnout Inventory MBI Questionnaire was used. The descriptive study, with retrospective directionality, revealed a low prevalence of Burnout syndrome. Emotional fatigue was the most affected Burnout dimension with 20%. A direct relationship between Burnout syndrome and factors such as gender and age could not be verified, but it was evident that certain teachers recorded at least one dimension of the affected Burnout syndrome, so. Having cases of teachers with dimensions with high scores, we proceeded to look for some association with their demographic factors, but their statistical analysis did not reveal any association. Despite this it was noted that the female gender has higher percentages of dimensions with signs of Burnout. The presence of "average" scores in the dimensions of Burnout reveal a possible impact on health and well-being due to current working conditions, which guides them to analyze them and propose changes that reverse this reality and prevent it in the future. It is also considered that the results obtained with regard to Burnout syndrome do not reflect the real situation of schools of uni-teacher and pluri-teacher, either due to a small study population and / or lack of honesty of the participants in solving the questionnaire.
