THE DELINQUENCY GENERATED BY CHILD VIOLENCE
Abstract:
Delinquency is one of the key problems that arise in the country’s metropolises and Santo Domingo is no exception. The present research was based on the relationship between having experienced violence as a child and its influence on the development of future criminal behaviour, thus providing a new perspective on the factors that influence the commission of criminal acts. The research methods applied were: the inductive method, the analytical-synthetic method, and the historical-logical method, using the interview as the data collection technique and the interview guide as the instrument. During the research process it has been possible to determine that, although it is true that child violence is a generating factor that influences the development of future criminal behaviour, it is not the main one, as it is immersed in a number of internal and external factors. In conclusion, what defines a criminal act in a person is the influence on the decision to commit it.
