TINU syndrome as a cause of fever of unknown origin

Abstract:

TINU syndrome (acute tubulo-interstitial nephritis associated to uveitis) is characterized by symptoms of fever, asthenia, anorexia, weight loss, abdominal pain and headache preceding acute renal failure associated to uveitis, generally anterior and bilateral. This paper reports the case of a 36-year-old female patient, whose diagnosis of TINU syndrome was established by idiopathic acute tubulo-interstitial nephritis confirmed anatomo-pathologically with renal biopsy, associated to acute anterior uveitis diagnosed by ophthalmological exam.
