Tabaquismo y diabetes como factores de riesgo en la periodontitis. Clínica Odontológica UCSG semestre B 2019.


Abstract:

Introduction: Periodontal infections are a group of diseases located in the gum and the support structures of the tooth, it affects between 5 and 15% of the general population. The main risk factors involved in periodontal disease are: systemic diseases such as diabetes and smoking, local factors such as age and gender participate. The participation of systemic diseases that contribute to its progression. Objective: To determine the risk factor with the highest incidence in patients diagnosed with periodontitis in the periodontics clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil during semester B 2019. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in which 34 stories were analyzed. Clinics of 160 patients of the Dental Clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. Its analysis was carried out under different methods found in the literature according to the structure to be studied. Results: It was obtained that in patients presenting with diabetes, 80.95% is severe, 19.05% Moderate, according to gender, male patients mostly at Severe level with 42.86%, and female Severus at 38.10%, with 19.05% male patients level moderate. In smoking patients in the study group it is 37.50% Moderate, 32.50% Severe and 30% Mild, depending on their gender, there is a greater presence in male patients with a mild level with 30% and in female patients with a severe level with 20.00 %.In diabetic patients 21.31% brush twice, 9.84% 3 times and 3.28% 1 time. In smoking patients, 34.43% brush twice, 31.15% 3 times Conclusions: Periodontal health is a crucial component of general health; especially in diabetic patients and tobacco smokers.
